Making minimal into engaging for Pony Design Co.

Pony Design Co is an interior design studio based in Sydney, with a holistic and collaborative approach to their interior and architectural design. They needed to refresh their identity and website with a more minimalistic and contemporary look, while clearly communicating their philosophy in that “built environments should be experienced”, as well as their service offerings and impressive portfolio of work.

After an initial Q&A strategy planning session to ensure we understood the client’s needs, goals and their competitive market, we began by revising the current sitemap to a simplified structure. This was the basis for the overall direction of the website refresh – clean and minimal with monochromatic imagery and hints of muted colour, which was evident in the next stages of concept wireframing. We included subtle touches such as a image rollover transitions that gradually changed the images from monochrome to vibrant colour, bringing the visual experience to life much like Pony Design Co’s philosophy, and we also took this structure and concept into consideration through to the responsive mobile and tablet design, as well as a custom designed suite of icons to better communicate the project phases.

We were charged with the following roles:
– UX and User Research Interviews
– UX/UI Planning and Information Architecture
– Sitemap development
– Concept and Design rollout
– Copywriting
– Website build
– Content population
– Launch

A full case study will be available soon, but in the meantime, take a look at the website here.
